Holly and Rebecca have 40 years combined experience working with pregnancy and birth as nurses, midwives, and nurse practitioners. They will teach the group the terminologies used in obstetrics, as well as explain common tests and procedures, so that mental health professionals can better assist their perinatal clients. Holly and Rebecca will also explore with the group the phases of labor and comfort measures their clients may utilize, and complications of birth will also be discussed. There will be illustrations, case studies, and time for discussion. Course content will include the historical context of obstetrics in America, including racial and ethnic disparities, and social determinants of health.
