Dr. Ariela Frieder
I am a board certified psychiatrist specializing in perinatal psychiatry and certified in Perinatal Mental Health by Postpartum Support International (PSI).
My background includes a residency in OBGYN in Argentina, and a residency in Adult Psychiatry and a Fellowship in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center/ Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx. Initially, after graduation I worked at the Primary care and High Risk OBGYN clinic at Montefiore Medical Group where I treated women suffering from different psychiatric conditions and going through pregnancy, postpartum, infertility and perinatal losses and both men and women with medical problems who needed psychiatric treatment. I taught and supervised residents, fellows and medical students. In 2015 I left Montefiore to join Northwell Health where I worked as the Director of Psychiatry at LIJ Forest Hills Hospital and at Zucker Hillside Hospital perinatal program. Eventually, I transitioned to be the physician in charge of the Perinatal Program at Zucker Hillside Hospital in NY. There, I had the opportunity to treat hundreds of women with psychiatric problems during the perinatal period. I also continued to teach and supervise psychiatrists in training and medical students. I had the opportunity to present in conferences, write articles and still do.
